Community Outreach

The NC RAA is committed to supporting charitable causes for communities in North Carolina, especially those communities in close proximity to our annual conference site. This year, we have identified Urban Ministries of Durham and A Note in the Pocket in Raleigh as organizations we seek to help.
Because we believe our conference should make a positive impact larger than just ourselves, we ask for your participation by bringing donation items with you to the Friday Conference Center. We will collect items on both days of the conference and make sure each organization receives donations from our NC RAA conference attendees.
Urban Ministries of Durham
The Urban Ministries of Durham (umdurham.org) helps to fight poverty by offering food, shelter and a future to North Carolina communities in the Triangle area. Items sought for collection at the conference are in the categories of Food and Toiletries.
Urban Ministries of Durham is the city’s primary hub for individuals facing hunger, homelessness, or crisis. Serving over 6,000 people annually, providing food, shelter, clothing, and support—welcoming all, without exception. As Durham’s main public homeless shelter, they help neighbors end homelessness with dignity. Last year, 118 individuals found permanent housing through UMD.
